So says the blurb for most organisations. At Radlett Players we endeavour to turn that first move into a worthwhile experience by immediately involving newcomers in whatever is currently happening; there is no compulsion, of course, but the best way to get to know us is to “get stuck in” as they say.
In September 2005 following our Start of
the Season social event, five new members started rehearsing a play which was
presented, to rapturous applause, at a Members evening a few months later. All of them have since become fully involved
in subsequent productions, some on stage, some
backstage.
Following our opening event this year,
three newcomers immediately became involved backstage on our most recent
production, Steel Magnolias, and others are rehearsing for a “Poetry,
Piano and Pints” event to be held early next year.
So, the lesson is clear. If you want to
join a dramatic society so that you can get involved
in drama, have fun and meet new people, join Radlett Players. We meet every first Tuesday of the month in
the Youth and Community Centre at the junction of Watling Street and Loom Lane,
starting time 8.00 pm.
